Our work is deeply dependent on getting to know the individual student. Every student needs something a little different. Some students want to focus on finding universities that fit their individual search criteria. Others need more support workshopping their essays. There is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all,” and our students have benefited from this tailored approach. Playing a part in this journey is a rewarding experience for us. We get to know our students and their families, and we are with them through the highs and lows. All along, we do our best to encourage a culture of wellness and positivity.
Calvin – Boston University, Finance
Mr. Foster is an individual who takes the time to genuinely get to know his students by applying compassion and guidance during those most important times of need. The times when we had one-on-one meetings were extremely helpful during the stressful points in school. The greatest aspect that stands out is his ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of where they come from. The times I have spent with him were experiences that inspired me to be the best version of myself possible. His influences have driven much of my university and career choices, and his guidance helped maintain the key mindset of reaching for bigger, better things. Without a doubt, Jemison has played a major role in my placement into Boston University. Breaking the news that I got accepted to him and my parents were one of the best memories of my life.

Mr. Foster never failed to deliver meaningful advice whenever I needed him, and he was always available to see me even under the most urgent deadlines. His wealth of knowledge kept my options open globally and helped determine which schools may be a good academic or cultural fit. What was great about this experience was not once did I ever feel like any options were imposed upon me. I was taught well how to tackle a problem, do meaningful research, and make well-informed decisions, then make my own path. This allowed me to make the best university choice I could have.
When it came to essays, he was also crucial in developing my capacity to express myself eloquently and concisely for prospective universities. I truly appreciated the extra time he gave with feedback and advice, which allowed me to produce something I can say I am proud of…and got me accepted!
Malee (parent) – Colby College & Bates College
Jemison guided both our boys to choose their universities. Our family has roots in Thailand, the Netherlands, and the US, so his guidance on international universities was crucial for their decision-making. He had regular meetings with the boys to help them find the best fit while considering their interests, their characters, and choosing an environment that would best match each. His friendly approach and professional disposition quickly put everyone at ease and helped to dissipate the stress around making these life-changing decisions. Jemison also had regular consultations with us as parents to check whether the direction going forward was suitable for our ideas, expectations, and financial status. He kept a close check on deadlines and briefed us well in advance about the requirements, ensuring that the boys were on track. His support throughout the process resulted in applications that we could all be proud of. The boys both finished their studies and have become well-balanced grown adults, due in no small part to the resilience and confidence they gained by attending universities that fit their needs.

College selection was an overwhelming task. With many choices and little experience, I didn’t know how to narrow down my options. With his knowledge and expertise, Mr. Foster helped me select schools that will be a great fit for me. He made it a fun and enjoyable process from picking out schools, filling out applications, writing personal essays, getting recommendation letters from teachers, and meeting the important deadlines for scholarship and financial aid. He was personal and made sure to get to know me, my goals, my concerns, and my preferences to address them in his recommendation letter. Mr. Foster sat with me and explained the process of applying for financial aid and shared several very useful resources. These resources played a central role in determining which universities I eventually applied to, and they were key in getting the financial aid I needed to attend the University of Arkansas.

While popular ranking systems have a role to play, we do not judge a school’s value or fit based upon a flawed ranking system.
